>> History

The Olympium Synchronized Swim Club is undoubtedly one of Canada 's top Competitive Clubs in the sport, with a rich and winning tradition of over 25 years.

Since its inception in 1979, OSSC athletes have competed with distinction and earned top honours at provincial, national and international events.

OSSC was well represented at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta when two of our swimmers, Lisa Alexander and Erin Woodley, attained the highest level of athletic achievement as members of Canada 's silver medal team, accompanied by OSSC coach Sheilagh Croxon, who provided direction from deck as assistant Olympic coach.

Prior to 1996, Lisa and Erin were champions at the 1994 Commonwealth Games and silver medalists at the 1995 FINA World Cup; Sheilagh went on to be named Canada's Olympic Coach in 2000 and lead her team, consisting of 3 more OSSC athletes - Claire Carver-Dias, Fanny Letourneau and Jessica Chase - to a bronze medal finish in Sydney Australia.

In the summer of 2002, Claire Carver-Dias won Gold in solo and teamed with Fanny Letourneau in duet for Gold at the Commonwealth Games in England . In 1994, Canada 's Olympic team once again featured Fanny Letourneau and Jessica Chase, who provided a veteran presence as returning Olympians for the XXVIII Games, held in Athens Greece .

Our record of proven success speaks for itself. OSSC has placed swimmers on National Teams 24 of the past 25 years, and in the recent past have placed as many as 9 athletes on National Teams in a single year.

For the 2005 - 2006 season, OSSC is proud to have as many as 6 athletes vying for spaces on National Teams.
