Funding the Fight with Fitness
For
a third consecutive year, athletes of the Olympium Synchronized
Swim Club will participate in Burning Bright For Breast Cancer,
a Synchro Swim Ontario initiative in support of the Canadian
Breast Cancer Foundation (CBCF), Canada’s leading volunteer-based
organization dedicated to creating a future without breast
cancer.
After
overwhelming success in 2004 and 2005, OSSC will team up once
again with other member clubs from across the province to
help fund the fight against breast cancer by participating
in the extraordinary relay style marathon that will see athletes
swim for a minimum of one hour while passing a burning torch.
Together, clubs are hoping to raise donations that will put
their combined 3-year total at more than $100,000.
OSSC
athletes will do their part on October 21 at the Etobicoke
Olympium between 2 and 3:30pm. As they work hard towards making
this year’s Burning Bright for Breast Cancer a real
success, we invite you to join them by either sponsoring a
swimmer or making a donation to CBCF through our Club. 100%
of donations support the Ontario Chapter of the Canadian Breast
Cancer Foundation and donations of $20 or better are automatically
eligible for a tax receipt.
Pledges
will be tallied by Synchro Swim Ontario and presented to CBCF
– Ontario Chapter at the Lisa Alexander Figure Competition
on December 3 at Etobicoke Olympium Pool in Toronto.
In
supporting CBCF, the Olympium Synchronized Swim Club has become
part of a powerful community of people whose combined efforts
are resulting in exciting new developments and learnings about
breast cancer. Together, we can make a difference!
