Hello
Junior Team Fans and Supporters!
We
have arrived comfortably here in Foshan city in China after
our very important training camp in Hong Kong. We are so happy
to have had the opportunity to train in Hong Kong before this
event. It really helped the athletes to get used to the significant
time change of 12 hours. It also allowed the athletes to really
get used to all the wonderful and often challenging differences
in culture, food and way of life.
The athletes trained about 6 hours per day during the camp
and are feeling great now that they have arrived in China.
They are really able to push themselves here on the world
stage- that is a huge plus both for performance and for confidence!
The
new facility is totally fantastic- two 50m pools and a diving
pool, it was open for one day when they opened it up to competitors
yesterday- it is grand, and spotless. We are all really impressed
with the genuine hospitality of the Chinese and are really
thankful for all of the volunteers help and efforts to make
this a memorable event. The hotel is about a 25 min bus ride
away from the pool, and everything is quite organized- right
down to every pool time training that you receive. The Chinese
are really wonderful hosts to us.
The
girls had two excellent practices over the past three days
and we where met with many compliments. The athletes look
proud and are really working well together as a team to focus
on the job they want to do to perform at their best. We are
really excited for the duet and team prelim tomorrow-both
routines had a great swim through today and are motivated
to improve small key things for tomorrow. Our figures where
drawn today (Kip and Subalina- to go with the compulsory's)
and everyone is feeling really calm and prepared for Monday's
figure event.
Thank
you to all who have sent us their best wishes and support.
We are very aware of how many people have worked very hard
to support our team- we salute you! Canada is proud and ready
to go tomorrow!!
Will
update you soon, attached is a photo of the athletes outside
the pool after practice tonight! (It’s really hot!!!
Over 33!)
