>> OSSC Lays Claim to Provincial Titles

OSSC’s Tier 6 and 7 athletes are back home happy following 3 days of successful competition at the 2008 Provincial Championships, which drew to a close in Guelph on February 17.

Athletes got right down to business to start the weekend with rock solid execution during the compulsory figures events, claiming the majority of top place finishes to outdistance a number of competitors heading into the various routine events. Rachel Kowalski was OSSC’s top ranked swimmer finishing second in Tier 7 figures, with a score of 73.0404. Click Here for complete meet results.

OSSC athletes carried their momentum into the routine events, consistently earning top scores to be among the best in solo and duet, winning a total of 4 silver and 3 bronze, however it was during the team events that our athletes really showed their strength in numbers (scores), realizing their best finishes of the meet and laying claim to titles as both Tier 6 and Tier 7 Provincial Champions. Congratulations to all our athletes and coaches, you should be very proud!!!

Looking ahead, the girls will enjoy a nice change of scenery as they take their training to sunny Las Vegas, Nevada before heading off to the 2008 Eastern Atlantic Divisional Challenge which takes place in Montreal March 12 – 16. This event is the most important phase in the 2007/08 competitive season for athletes vying to compete in the 2008 Canadian Open, May 7- 11 and the 2008 Canadian Espoir Championships June 4 - 8.
