The ‘Quest for Gold' Lottery is making a difference according to the Sport and Recreation Branch of the Ministry of Health Promotion, who recently announced that the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation will launch a third version of the $20 INSTANT lottery game that supports Ontario's high-performance amateur athletes.

The lottery, which was first launched in January 2006, funds the Quest for Gold Ontario Athlete Assistance Program (OAAP) which has already provided direct financial support to approximately 1,400 of Ontario's amateur high performance athletes for living and training costs, as well as post-secondary tuition support. Six OSSC athletes were among those nominated for the 2006/07 Ontario carding designation which qualified them to benefit from the program.

In 2007-2008, total funding that will be provided under the program will be $10 million, delivered through three distinct funding streams – the Ontario Athlete Assistance Program, Enhanced Coaching Initiatives and Enhanced Training and Competitive Opportunities.

You can help support Ontario 's best amateur athletes every time you play the new Quest for Gold ticket which features 5 top prizes of $1 million in addition to the more that 660,000 prizes available to be won. Remember, when you play, you are supporting amateur athletes in Ontario ; you are helping them to achieve their goals; and you are providing them a chance to realize their dreams. And that makes all of us champions!!!
