>> Sisters Selected to New Zealand's Olympic Team

OSSC has recently learned that long time friends and former club members Nina and Lisa Daniels have been selected for the New Zealand Olympic Team that will travel to Beijing in 2008.

Confirmation of their selection came following an exemplary performance by the sisters at the Chinese Open in September where they earned a high score of 88.083, proving to the New Zealand Olympic Committee that they are capable of finishing in the top 16 at Beijing next year.

According to Barry Maister, NZOC Secretary General and selector, Nina and Lisa will be the first synchro team to represent New Zealand at the Olympic Games in 24 years; they are the sixth and seventh athletes to be selected to the New Zealand Olympic Team, which is expected to comprise of approximately 150 athletes, one of whom will be New Zealand’s 1000th Olympian.

Nina and Lisa have recently returned to Canada to focus on the road ahead and have resumed full-time training under the direction of renowned synchro coach Sheilagh Croxon.
