>> Althetes Hit Water as Pre-Season Camp Continues
OSSC's 2007-08 pre-season training camp continued Monday August 20 at Sunnyside Outdoor Pool with athletes hitting the water for the first time this new season.
Enthusiasm was high as returnees and newcomers came together with the shared purpose of building on the club's success of last season. “We've already got a winning attitude” said Lindsay Lukezic after swimming with teammates on Monday morning. “You can see it in the tremendous effort and energy every swimmer puts out, and we're already getting that camaraderie going again – that feeling of a sense of unity between the girls”.
With more than enough swimmers to make up the 4 competitive teams the club anticipates turning out in 2007/08, the troupe of more than 30 athletes was split into three groups so coaches could better assess the potential for the upcoming season.
Swimmer evaluations are expected to continue for the duration of camp - which will wrap up on August 29 - and then carry on well into September before final team selections are announced.
