Mississauga 's Sam Mawhinney, 14, of the Olympium Synchronized Swimming Club (OSSC) captured six gold and two silver medals at the 2004 Ontario Provincial Championships at the Etobicoke Olympium recently.
Mawhinney finished tops in tier 6 15-and-under and tier 6 open figures and tier 6 15-and-under and tier 6 open solo. With her partner Brittany Linton of Brampton , the duo placed first in tier 6 15-and-under and tier 6 open duet.
Mawhinney was part of the OSSC team that placed second in tier 6 15-and-under and tier 6 open.
As well Mawhinney received the trophy for best all-round swimmer in the meet.
Mawhinney, who attends Hollycrest Middle School in Etobicoke, started with the Mississauga Synchronized Swimming Club (MSSC) at age 7, before switching to OSSC two years later.
