>> Local Girl Shines at Synchronized Swim Meet

The York Guardian
June 17, 2006

A Weston synchronized swimmer is making waves after a successful weekend of competition.

Candace Caskey has been named to the national team by placing sixth in the figures competition of the national team trials during the Canadian Espoir Championships held at the Etobicoke Olympium.

The Olympium Synchro Swim Club team also took home the silver medal, breaking the Quebec stronghold on the Top 3 positions in the country.

Candace's figure and solo results throughout the year have given her a strong lead, according to team spokesperson Lorraine Pierce-Hull. Candace has been swimming for five years at the club with her sights on this goal and then on to the Olympics. The Caskey name is well known in the synchro circles as Candace's cousin Amy represented Canada on the national team for nine years.
