For young swimmers interested in learning about the exciting sport of synchronized Swimming, OSSC is pleased to offer a new and rewarding water experience call Kids "In Sync" , a unique program that combines basic synchro skills with elements from a variety of other sports including diving, gymnastics and dance.
Designed with the emerging swimmer in mind, this program is perfect for the child who's looking for an alternative to traditional swimming lessons to further strengthen their swimming skills and endurance.
Participants will be introduced to the fundamental sculls, basic figures and various routine components of early synchronized swimming, in addition to other disciplines aimed at improving strength, coordination and flexibility.
Kids "In Sync" is specifically structured to permit all levels of participation - from inexperienced to skilled - casual to keen - while ensuring all swimmers are equally challenged to reach their full potential.
All sessions of the Kids "In Sync" program offers the opportunity for swimmers to demonstrate their newly acquired skills in an open house held specifically for parents. Other opportunities such as club water shows and local recreational competitions are also available.
The Kids "In Sync" program is suitable for swimmers of any age with a basic level of swimming competency. Completion of Red Cross Aquaquest Level 4, Toronto Parks and Recreations Ultra Swim 3, (or equivalent) is suggested but not mandatory. A skills assessment will be performed during the first evening of each session to ensure participants are grouped with swimmers possessing similar skills.
To maximize the creative atmosphere and fun-filled experience of the Kids "In Sync" program, OSSC requires that participants:
- Wear a bathing cap to prevent hair from interfering with vision
- Wear goggles to prevent irritation of eyes and to improve vision under water
- Wear a nose clip to better enjoy the underwater activities
Swimmers who excel in the Kids "In Sync" program may be invited to try out for our Competitive Program.
