OSSC Selected to Host 2008 Tier Championships

Synchro Swim Ontario recently announced that the Olympium Synchro Swim Club has been selected to host the 2008 Ontario Tier Championships at the Etobicoke Olympium. The event, which is billed as the largest Synchro Swim meet in the country, is anticipated to attract upwards of 600 athletes from 23 club across the province who will vie for provincial titles in solo, duet and team.

OSSC was among 6 clubs announced as regional and provincial meet hosts in 2008.

The selection could hardly come at a better time for OSSC, which is currently riding high on the momentum of an outstanding 2007 season under the direction of head coach Kerri Morgan. The Tier 6 15&U Gold team was crowned national champions at the 2007 Canadian Espoir Championships in May and had 7 of the team members named to National and/or provincial teams; the Tier 7 Junior team placed third at the 2007 Canadian Open and had 7 of its team members named to the Provincial Junior Team; and Jennifer Knobbs was re-named to the National Junior Team for a 3rd consecutive year.

In addition to hosting Tier Championships in 2008, OSSC will also host Provincial Trials which is tentatively scheduled for January 26 & 27.

"OSSC is extremely pleased to know that our bids for both the Provincial Trials and Tier Championships in 2008 were successful” said Club President Cynthia Caskey. "This is really a great opportunity for our facility, our fans and especially our club, which has earned a reputation for hosting first-class events. The Etobicoke Olympium is such a beautiful facility in which to compete, and our member families are so knowledgeable and supportive”.

The 2008 Ontario Tier Championships will take place in Etobicoke May 29 – June 1 2008. For a complete list of scheduled events for the 2007/08 competitive season, visit the Synchro Ontario website.
